Dr. Sandra Stites has practiced with the Kansas City Women’s Clinic for 31 years as an obstetrician/gynecologist. After graduating from The Barstow School in 1978, she obtained her Biochemistry degree from Princeton University and Medical Doctor degree from U of MO-Columbia. Her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed in Rochester, NY at the Strong Memorial Hospital in 1990. This coincided with the birth of their first child and the recognition that it was time to come home.
Her work focuses on healthcare and its accessibility for all people. She is passionate about women’s health at all stages of their lives and in empowering women to work in concert to reach their healthcare goals. She is active in the community having served on the boards of Planned Parenthood, Bishop Spencer Place and Center for Practical Bioethics, of which she is the immediate past chair. She most recently co-chairs Vibrant Women, a philanthropic group of women highlighting the care of women and children at Vibrant Health, a federally qualified health care center, in Wyandotte County.
When relaxing, she can be found on rivers, mountains and courts; fly fishing with her husband, skiing and playing tennis. She is an avid photographer –despite that fact that her most photographed subjects are her family. And pre-pandemic, travel was a high priority. She and her husband, Steven Stites, MD have 3 grown children.View All Members
