Entrepreneur Maria Flynn is the President and CEO of Orbis Biosciences, a company that revolutionizes the delivery, efficacy, and safety of pharmaceuticals. Orbis provides cutting-edge and innovative technology to companies looking to integrate Orbis controlled-release delivery into their products. Under her leadership, Orbis was awarded the 2017 Excellence in Formulation Award by the Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients (CPhI) and was named the 2018 International Small Business of the Year by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
Previously, Maria was a Director at Cerner Corporation, where she held P&L responsibility for a life sciences business unit that provided drug safety software and services to pharmaceutical companies. She also created a new enterprise within Cerner for state and regional healthcare software. Before joining Cerner, Maria was an engineer with Camp Dresser & McKee.
Maria has been named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Entrepreneurial Women to Watch, Kansas City Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business, and Ingram’s Business Magazine’s 40 Under 40, and she received the Central Exchange’s STEMMy Award for Enterprising Innovator. Maria serves on the Board of Directors of BioNexus KC (DBA Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute), the global leader at the nexus of human and animal health, and she is a member of Pipeline Entrepreneurs, the region’s premier entrepreneurial leadership organization.
Maria’s education includes an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she was a Herman Family Fellow for Women in Entrepreneurship, an M.S. in engineering from Stanford University, and a B.S. in engineering from Kansas State University.
