Mini Documentary Highlights KCU, KU Researchers’ Alzheimer’s Work

KCU researcher Dr. Abdulbaki Agbas appears with his friend and colleague Dr. Russel Swerdlow of KU Alzheimer’s Disease Center in a new documentary, “Dignifying Dementia: Scientists Find Hope,” produced as part of series by Prairie Elder Care. Dr. Agbas has a patent-pending blood-based biomarker test, which identifies the early onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Drs. Agbas, Swerdlow, and Dr. Jeffrey Burns are working for additional grant funding to continue their collaborative research. Learn More >

Study from MU shows Anti-Tuberculosis Drug Disrupted by Botanical Supplement, Can Lead to Development of Disease

Botanical supplements are used by people around the world to treat a wide range of physical and mental ailments. Some of these botanical supplements have high levels of antioxidants, which may have some positive health effects for certain conditions. However, a new study from the University of Missouri in partnership with scientists in Africa has uncovered evidence that these supplements and their antioxidants may reduce the effectiveness of prescription medications.
