Stakeholder Highlight: KCU Bioinformatics Addresses Need for High-Tech Skill Set

This past year, KCU began developing an innovative bioinformatics track in the College of Biosciences for students completing a master’s degree in biomedical sciences.  Bioinformatics leverages the power of big data within the realm of medical data management to improve medical decision making and positively impact population health. The new track will not only encompass biomedical courses but also integrate courses in computer software coding, data collection and analysis and related topics. Providing students with this career applicable knowledge will help meet growing workforce demand in the Kansas City region — and across the country — as this technical skill set becomes increasingly critical to the delivery of health care. KCU will serve as host for BioNexus KC’s Bioinformatics Conference April 16-17, 2020.
