Hall Family Foundation Pledges $750,000 to KCALSI for One Health Research

Several local grants will further cement Kansas City’s status as a key node for One Health research. The Hall Family Foundation will provide $750,000 in grants to the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute during the next three years. Specifically, the money will be used to further KCALSI’s One Health vision, encouraging collaborative research to improve health for humans and animals. Learn More >

Outcomes research was a little-known concept in health care when Saint Luke’s Health System cardiologist Dr. John Spertus launched his career in Kansas City 20 years ago. Researchers at Children’s Mercy Collaborate with Elias Animal Health to Test Dog Vaccine for Use Against Child Brain Cancer

Kevin Ginn, a pediatric oncologist at Children’s Mercy, said he and Elias Animal Health executives are developing protocols for children’s brain cancer trials by looking at a treatment currently used to fight cancer in dogs.
