University of Missouri Nursing School Lands $20 million Grant to Expand Study

The University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing received a $19.8 million grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to expand the Missouri Quality Initiative for Nursing Homes. The funding will add 16 more nursing homes to the existing study and give increased payments to health care providers who opt to treat patients at nursing facilities instead of at hospitals. Hall Family Foundation Pledges $8M for KU Cancer Center

The Hall Family Foundation has pledged an additional $8 million to support the University of Kansas Cancer Center’s drive to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. The donation will help the KU Cancer Center recruit a director of medical oncology, recruit a researcher specializing in hematological malignancies and immunotherapy, and provide funding for the Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation, which works to bring new therapies to the market. Business of Curing Cancer: Latest NCI Effort Kicks in Gear

The University of Kansas Cancer Center is launching its next efforts to attain National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center designation. This includes placing more patients in clinical trials, recruiting more world-class researchers to the Kansas City area, and playing a larger role in the area’s Tobacco 21 campaign and a HPV campaign to raise vaccination awareness.  Learn More >
