Randy Logan, PhD, is the Scientific Director of BioNexus KC. In this role, Dr. Logan leads regional life science research initiatives, works to build research capacity and collaboration among stakeholders, and contributes to workforce development programs that strengthen the region’s life science ecosystem.
Prior to joining BioNexus KC, Dr. Logan was the Program Director of Biotechnology and Professor of Practice at the University of Kansas. Over this nine-year period, he established effective collaborations between academia and the bioscience industry that connected the STEM talent pool to industry careers. He built community outreach programs and education initiatives that expanded the research & discovery talent pool for the region. He led and managed grant initiatives that built an academic consortium of five academic institutions that spanned the state of Kansas. Dr. Logan also brings drug discovery experience from Bristol-Myers Squibb as and ADME scientist, focusing on therapeutic areas of oncology and virology. Dr. Logan previously served ten years in the Army National Guard as a combat medic and medical operations officer and brings a wealth of leadership and operational management skills from this military experience. Dr. Logan earned his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and BS in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas.
